For many years, the late Bob Hope's name was synonymous with an annual golf tournament in LaQuinta, Calif. But last year, Humana became the title sponsor of what now is the Humana Challenge.
As Golfweek reports, Louisville-based Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) is working with former President Bill Clinton, through his William J. Clinton Foundation, to restore the tournament to prominence.
The report noted that Humana signed an eight-year sponsorship of with the PGA Tour and plans to use golf to complement its effort to promote health and well-being.
Golfweek also reported that the partners are making strides reviving the tournament, which saw attendance rise 68 percent last year from 2011 and television ratings rise by 11 percent.
