8 things PC gamers should know before upgrading to Windows 8 ...

Like the article says, if you have anything other than win 7 already, take the upgrade. The price is right and it's not hard to learn. I updated my Vista laptop and XP netbook to 7, and they run better now than they did new. I'm going to hold off upgrading my gaming rig until more win 8 VM support comes out. I still play alot of older games that won't run in windows 8.

If you're confused about the "Metro" interface, don't be. It's just the start menu, intended for tablets, but still functional. On a desktop just open it, select your shit and forget it exists. The taskbar is still there and the task manager is more functional than before.

The reason for the cheap update is microsoft wants you to integrate windows with every aspect of your life. Windows computer, windows tablet, windows phone but that strategy only works if everything is up to date. If they can't corner the new, more mobile computing market they will get left behind
